Buildings – Building Clusters – Urban Spaces
The city Riedstadt pursues with different sector-oriented measures its environmental goals. Based on an integrated climate protection concept and with public participation an overarching strategy was formulated, aiming the reduction of energy and CO2-emissions. The main emphasis was put on the building stock and the energy infrastructure. After a stock analysis, potentials of the respective sectors were identified to subsequently propose concrete measures to achieve well defined climate protection goals. The approach: Knowing about the single buildings, broaden the view on entire spaces. Extending the system boundary from buildings, increasing to building cluster up to urban spaces. The methodology: Considering urban spaces as so-called energetic homogenates. These show a similar behavior of heat and electricity consumption and at the same time have the ability to produce renewable energies. Identifying these abilities and combining them with the demand and consumption forms the basis of a building-culture awareness in the process of urban rehabilitation. With the rehabilitation and development of resources (renewable energies in this case) we leave the limited terrain of a building and are able to pursue the goal of a larger area of activity. The final report of the BMU-supported project has been published by the client under: www.hessen-nachhaltig.de.
